Review of the Orchid Classics album ‘1 2 3 11’

“Howell's Clarinet Sonata... the opening movement's oscillations between introversion and animation are commandingly articulated... a rhythmically tight, empathic partnership

His nuanced account of Debussy's Première Rhapsodie brings dreaminess, delicacy and fleet-fingered virtuosity

In Poulenc's Sonata for Two Clarinets Robson cheekily plays both parts himself in a taut, burbling performance”

imperturbable virtuosity at the extreme of the clarinet’s compass. . .

Robson earned a well-deserved ovation... a fine clarinet soloist.”

“An exhilarating and imaginative celebration of the 20th century clarinet. . .

a satisfyingly funky multitrack version of Steve Reich’s 'New York Counterpoint'… really well made mix, total clarity of the different parts”
